Black Adam (2022) Rated PG-13

An Egyptian god is released from his tomb and now unleashes his wrath of justice in the modern world. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, and Pierce Brosnan.

Now, I know DC struggles with making their comics come to life and this one is no exception. The thing the filmmakers struggle with is the complexity of the characters. The DC heroes aren’t just a group of supernatural people who want to fight the bad guys. They are actually complex characters with a lot of bad stories that don’t reflect in the films’ storytelling. This is no exception with the last of DC superheroes. You are thrown into the action as Black Adam wakes from his tomb and they don’t really stop until he ends the fight. You do get his backstory, but it’s just glossing over the history of his life and how he got his powers. The other characters are all new to the DC series, and we have less understanding of who they are. The film just doesn’t add up to meet the needs of the fans for a good DC film. This one is not worth the watch.
