A documentary on talks that are happening in homes across America about how to behave in front of police. Starring Kenya Barris, Nas, and Rosie Perez.
This documentary talks about how African Americans focus on how to behave in front of the police. While that’s all good, a lot of that seems to be second nature for other races in the world. I wonder why these behaviors are so hard for one race. As this special discusses how to teach young people how to behave, I have other questions that continue to plague me. We need to figure out why the police are fearful when doing their jobs. We need to figure out why the citizens are just as fearful. I think it goes much deeper than color. I think it’s the mistakes on both sides that are making us fearful of each other. It’s not the color of the skin that is the foundation of that fearfulness. It’s deeper and it’s complex. This is something that can’t be changed overnight, but blaming one side is not the way to go. There’s no way that we don’t need police. It’s an essential job, and I’m thankful for the men and women who do it and do it without becoming dirty. This documentary is not worth the watch.
