Pride & Prejudice (2005) Rated PG

Elizabeth Bennet meets proud Mr. Darcy, who falls for her unwittingly. Can they both overcome their pride and prejudices? Based on the book by Jane Austen. Starring Keira Knightley, Talulah Riley, and Rosamund Pike.

This version of Pride and Prejudice is my second favorite. Knightley isn’t the best Lizzy, but she holds her own. Matthew Macfadyen, on the other hand, is another Mr. Darcy reincarnate. He perfectly portrays the character only second to Colin Firth’s 1995 performance. What makes this a great second film is the cinematography. It’s beautiful. The tone and color are fabulous; they pull you into the feelings of these characters. It’s another character in and of itself. I think this film is perfect to just get a taste of Austen instead of the feast that is the 1995 version. That is due to the length of the film. While both films have their positives, the 1995 version is better, but this version is still worth the watch.
