A government agent is kidnapped and sent to a remote village. Starring Ian McKellen, Jim Caviezel, and Ruth Wilson.
Having not seen the original 1960 version, I rather enjoyed this reimagining of the story. The story changes from the cold war and counter-culture to consumer culture and the global village. The film relies on the psychological fight between the leader of “the village” (McKellen) and the prisoner (Caviezel). I’ve always enjoyed Caviezel’s performances and this is no exemption. This miniseries makes you think about what you are a prisoner of; it also makes you reexamine where the world is going, and it ain’t pretty. This is a show worth the watch.
