A town of Native Americans in Alaska still hunts to provide for the townspeople. When an environmentalist sees the report on their whale hunt, he and his followers attack the Natives’ way of life. Starring Chris Apassingok, Aakapak Apassingok, and Nalu Apassingok.
It kinda makes me mad that Paul Watson and his followers attack a group that is doing nothing wrong. They just live a different life than most Americans do. It’s a fact that Natives have different laws in effect for their hunting and fishing. It’s something we have allowed them to do in order to help them keep their way of life: the way of life that we took from them when we moved over here. So, they can still fish and hunt different animals and hunt for larger amounts than we can. That’s a right for them, and to attack them for that is wrong. This town is located in one of the farthest parts of the United States: on an island. Plus, the island doesn’t receive shipments of food on a regular basis or even fresh food. The cost of living is high because of the this. They need to hunt to survive. I’m proud of them. Granted, the film touched on this but didn’t dive deep. They followed the hunters as they hunted, so we mostly see how they hunt and get their meat. This film is worth the watch, especially for anyone that would like to see their way of life.
