The Book of Henry (2017) Rated PG-13

A mother uses her son’s notebook to rescue a girl from an abusive home. Starring Naomi Watts, Jaeden Martell, and Jacob Tremblay.

This film oozes predictability. The story is slow and boring as it weaves comedy, drama, suspense, and terror. The film just could never figure out what tone it wanted to convey. The plot is simple but predictable. You have to suspend your disbelief throughout the film. The script has a lot of plot holes and too many questions. While the film tries to be light, it comes off as too dark to seem real. The acting isn’t bad. Watts and Tremblay play off each other well. Overall, however, the film is not worth the watch.
