Office Christmas Party (2016) Rated R

When a branch manager gets word that they plan to shut down his branch, he throws an office party in order to land a big client. Starring Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn, and T.J. Miller.

I really am tired of these raunchy comedies that think they are cool. The writing is nothing new, and it’s a rather long comedy. The film is called Office Party but they leave the office party to go on trip. What’s the point? The actors weren’t bad, but then it’s not like this is their first comedy. Both Miller and Kate McKinnon are over-the-top comedians, which can be tiresome to watch. This is another office party that is not worth the watch.

TMZ Investigates: The Miracle Children of the Amazon (2023) Rated NR

Four children survive a plane crash in the Amazon for 40 days. Starring Lesly Mucutuy, Soleiny Mucutuy, Tien Mucutuy, and Cristin Mucutuy.

This documentary tells the miraculous story of how four children, including a nine-month-old baby, survived a plane crash and the jungle for 40 days. TMZ brings up the survival techniques that the children used during those 40 days. They also talk about the issues related to finding the children and the questions yet to be answered. While the show gives us an overview of the miraculous survival, it doesn’t go into depth about what happened or why. It’s nice to know that these children survived, but I would also like some facts. This special is not worth the watch.

Nobodies (TVland) Rated TV-14

A group of friends works on a children’s program. Starring Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf, and Rachel Ramras.

This show isn’t half bad. I just didn’t think it was funny. The show is too much like other shows. I think the downfall is in the characters; you just don’t care for them. If you don’t care for them, you don’t care what they say or do. The show does have a “been there, done that” feel, which just seems too forced. The friends all poke fun at each other, but it doesn’t make the show funny either. The writing doesn’t help. It’s like they think they’re funny, but they are not. It’s not worth the watch.

Morning Show Mystery: Mortal Mishaps (2018) Rated NR

Billie Blessing bakes a cake on her morning show, and after the show, her boss gets the cake. He ends up dead, and she is framed for the murder. Starring Holly Robinson Peete, Rick Fox, and Karen Robinson.

This is the first film in the series. It’s well written, and I was surprised by the performances of Peete and Fox. They actually have pretty good chemistry together. Fox’s acting needs a little improvement, but he responds well to Peete. It helps that the show has good supporting characters that are relaxed and know what they are doing; it helps to bring the story to life. I wasn’t sure ‘whodunit,’ so the ending was a pleasant surprise – not shocking, just pleasant. This film is worth the watch.

Nancy O’Dell Remembers (Reelz) Rated TV-PG

Nancy O’Dell remembers the surprising deaths that left the world stunned. Starring Nancy O’Dell.

This is one of those shows that just highlights deaths we all remember. She takes the side that she remembers covering the stories as the days unfolded when someone famous passed away unexpectedly. There is no new information; it just retells the media story of how the day unfolded for her as a news anchor. Sometimes it’s interesting to relive, but other times it’s painful to relive the loss of a loved one. O’Dell tries to tell it in a loving way, but really, is there any need to rewatch the news that’s already passed? This series is not worth the watch.

Morning Show Mystery: Murder on the Menu (2018) Rated TV-G

When a dead body is found in the car of a guest on Billie Blessings’ Morning Show, she joins in the investigation to find out ‘whodunit.’ Starring Holly Robinson Peete, Rick Fox, and Karen Robinson.

I thought the first film of the series was better. This one has good writing, and the chemistry between Peete and Fox has its moments. However, I felt it was up and down on whether or not they were comfortable together. Peete seems made for this character. I really like her. Although, the story just wasn’t as intriguing as the first film. It seemed too contrived. Thus, at times this also makes the acting seem contrived. I do wish there was more life in Fox’s lines; he mostly just states them. Overall, it’s not bad, but it could’ve been better. This one is not worth the watch.

We follow Hazril Rafhan, Head of the Department of Wildlife’s Tiger Unit, into the pristine rainforest of Taman Negara, Malaysia’s oldest protected area, and the Pelindung team into the logged forest of the Main range. The Department of Wildlife explores new options in a bid to maintain tiger populations and genetic diversity. At the National Wildlife Rescue Centre, a Reproductive Biotechnology team has been established to aid tiger reproduction in the lab. Millions of images have been captured from the National Tiger Survey. The survey proves that the biodiversity in Malaysia’s rainforest remains astounding, but it also reveals the devastating small number of tigers left in the rainforest. The survey results galvanize the Department of Wildlife and other forces to join in the fight to save the Malayan tiger including local indigenous peoples. There is encouraging evidence of cubs being born across the country. If tigers continue to breed, there may still be a chance to turn the tide of extinction. Starring Rama Kutti

Killing Richard Glossip (ID) Rated NR

An Oklahoma man is convicted of murder by hire, but he proclaims his innocence. Starring Christian Troy, Paul Grace, and Joseph le Compte.

This series interviews a number of people trying to commute the death sentence of Glossip. We, of course, get limited information about the reason for the accusation. The whole series revolves around the “he said, she said” scenario. The show also tends to go around in circles and the retellings with different facts makes the show longer. The show was hard to follow as they go round after round telling us the same things. It doesn’t help that you have Hollywood on your side. None of the information here makes you sympathize with Glossip. It all points toward him. This show is not worth the watch.
