Fitzwilly (1967)

Rated NR

Dick Van Dyke stars as a butler to a destitute philanthropist. While the other employees and Van Dyke turn to stealing to keep their boss from knowing how impoverished she is. All is well until the philanthropist hires a new secretary. Starring Dick Van Dyke, Barbara Feldon, John McGiver, Sam Waterston

This film is based on the novel, A Garden of Cucumbers, by Poyntz Tyler. Van Dyke plays the title character, Fitzwilly, and he does a marvelous job. The script written by  Isobel Lennart is what makes this film. The fast pace and the quick wit makes the film enjoyable. It might not be the best comedy but it is an agreeable one.
