The Host (2013) Rated PG-13

the-hostIn the not to distance future aliens come to Earth and take over human bodies. A teen risks everything to protect those she loves. Based on the book by Stephenie Meyer. Starring Rachel Roberts, Shyaam Karra, Brent Wendell Williams, Saoirse Ronan, Diane Kruger, Max Irons, William Hurt

I feel that this film was more  an overview of the book then getting into the meat of it. I wish they dug in deeper to the different relationships Melanie/Wanda/Jared, Melanie/Jared,  Wanda/Ian and even Melanie/Wanda’s. It also brushed over how the humans are surviving without going into too much detail. They could have done more with those stories and had the search as the background which would have been more compelling. I know the book is thicker than Meyer’s twilight series, so there was more to work with. I also realize that they really wanted to hit the teen market. It also didn’t help that I figured out how to save Wanda halfway through the film. Which makes the ending redundant.
