A trail guide escorts a group of women west to become brides. Starring Robert Taylor, Denise Darcel, Hope Emerson
This film stayed with me after watching it. Unlike most westerns that make women more the fairer sex, William Wellman allowed the women to take the helm and become the strong women that we are. Although, I have to say Wellman covered everything that happened or could happen on a wagon train. We had rattlesnake, Indians, and a stampede. It is a very typical western starting off with the speech by Robert Taylor’s character Buck commenting that a third of the women won’t make it to the end. It’s true a third of them don’t make it but the ones that do come out stronger and ready for their men. I loved this film, it’s worth a watch.
