Sling Blade (1996) Rated R

Sling Blade

Karl Childers is a simple man and has been in a mental hospital since he kill his mother and lover. When he is released he friends a boy in his home town. Based on the short film by Billy Bob Thornton, Some Folks Call It a Sling Blade. Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Dwight Yoakam, J.T. Walsh, John Ritter, Robert Duvall

This has to be one of the best films out there. The script is excellent even though, you know how this is going to end. Billy Bob Thornton, is perfect as Karl. Doesn’t miss a beat. The lightning in this film is fantastic. I haven’t seen lightning used to this degree. As the story unfolds the pace is seamless and realistic. It’s not rushed or too slow. It’s a story that has been told before but the level of depth to it is unexpected. I could not find a flaw in this movie. It’s worth a watch.
