Based on the biblical story of Samson and Delilah. Starring Hedy Lamarr, Victor Mature, George Sanders, Angela Lansbury, Russ Tamblyn
This is one of the best bible stories set on film. It’s also very typical Cecil B. DeMille. The cinematography is beautiful. The story is the closest I have seen of Samson in the Biblical text. Of course, the biblical story of Samson is only four chapters in Judges. This to put it on film, you have to add to the story. DeMille adds, Miriam, a Hebrew woman who loves Samson but doesn’t get the affection returned. Also, a young Saul. Even with these added characters every thing about Samson is in this story. His first love and the jawbone. Some isn’t told exactly how it is in the bible but the story is still the story of Samson. Very well done. It’s worth the watch.
