Odd Mom Out (BRAVO) Rated NR

odd mom outA half-hour comedy in the world of momzillas from the upper East Side of New York. Based on the book Momzillas by Jill Kargman. Starring Jill Kargman, Andy Buckley, K.K. Glick, Sean Kleier, Abby Elliott

An intriguing concept, I looked forward to watching this show.  Jill Kargman, who wrote and adapted the book for the television series, plays the Odd Mom Out, a mom struggling to adapt to the mommy cliques of the wealthy upper East Side.  A perfect fit for Bravo, it captures the essence of the Real Housewives, only in a new flavor.

I wish I could have enjoyed this more than I did, though.  I just couldn’t connect into their world, and I didn’t find it amusing at all.  I found nothing compelling enough to keep watching, save for one, non-mom character: Jill’s husband Andy, played by Andy Buckley (The Office).  It was interesting to watch him play a different character than I was used to, and the new role really suits him.  Even so, he isn’t enough to keep me coming back for more.  As much as I’d like to recommend it, this show is a pass for me.
