Mary and Joseph: A Story of Faith (1979) Rated NR

Mary and Joseph Story of FaithThe romantic story behind Mary and Joseph and the birth of Jesus. Starring Blanche Baker, Lloyd Bochner, Colleen Dewhurst, Jeff East.

The one major problem with this take on the Christmas story is the romanticism of  Mary and Joseph. I’m not saying that there wasn’t love. I believe there was, but this film is not historically  correct, in that it over-romanticized their relationship. Historically, Mary and Joseph were probably an arranged marriage. And, I don’t believe that they were both teenagers when they wed; Joseph would most likely have been at least in his twenties, if not older, and was financially able to support a family.  This wasn’t a terrible film, but it’s still not on my worth a watch list.
