Johnny (2010) Rated NR

johnnyA boy who is living in a group foster home and dying of leukemia longs for a family of his own. Starring Jerry Phillips, Musetta Vander, Lonnie Colón, Lee Majors.

Although it has some weaknesses, I connected with this story of a family dealing with the loss of their child, and a child dealing with the loss of his family.  The film represents Christian values well, but the interactions between the characters needed more work.  The husband (a doctor) is insensitive to his wife’s grief as he pushes for the adoption of Johnny.  I think his intentions are good, but his delivery is lacking.  Also, Johnny is a little too philosophical for his young age, although death does cause one to become more circumspect about life.  This is a standard Christian film, with a good message and average production.  It is still worth a watch.
