The Hollars (2016) Rated PG-13

the-hollarsA man returns to his hometown when he hears that his mother is ill. Starring Margo Martindale, Sharlto Copley, Richard Jenkins, John Krasinski, Anna Kendrick, Josh Groban, Charlie Day.

This film may have been skewered by some critics, but I loved it. It has an excellent cast, wonderful humor, and realistic family struggles.  They are able to lace humor into a difficult situation, as the family comes to terms with both their matriarch’s illness and the ensuing financial concerns. What I love most about this film is how the family is able to go through all of these things and still stay strong together.  This film is very much worth a watch.
