The Lamp (2011) Rated TV-PG

the-lampA couple’s marriage is falling apart after the death of their son, until a stranger gives them a gift of a lamp which will grant them three wishes. Starring Roger Nix, Jason London, Meredith Salenger, Muse Watson, Louis Gossett Jr.

Although this film has a great message, that is where the greatness ends. With a mediocre script leaving a lot of unanswered questions and reasonable acting by Gossett Jr., London and Watson, this film simply fails to deliver.  It is stagnant and non-committal in its approach to what this couple should put their faith in. There is no mention of God, but it attempts to be uplifting and inspiring without defining what it is we should be uplifted by, which I found frustrating.  This film could have been a lot better with more thought and focus.  As it is, it is a pass.
