Four years after graduation, a high school genius uses his sister’s Labor Day party to make a move on his high school crush. Starring Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler, Teresa Palmer, Chris Pratt, Michael Ian Black.
This movie did not impress me. In fact, it left a lot to be desired. Although I do love Grace as an actor, I just wasn’t feeling the 80’s vibe in this movie; they all seemed to be trying too hard. It felt like an 80’s film made 30 years too late. Added to that, the comedy just doesn’t pay homage to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Sixteen Candles or The Breakfast Club. The drug use and language doesn’t fit for an 80’s film. And, it doesn’t help that the title is based on an 80’s song that isn’t even featured in the film. I wished this film had been better, but it wasn’t. It’s a pass.
