Oslo, August 31st (2011) Rated NR

oslo-august-31stA day in the life of Anders, a drug addict who leaves his treatment center to interview for a job and catch up with friends. Based on the novel, Will O’ the Wisp by Pierre Drieu La Rochelle. Starring Anders Danielsen Lie, Malin Crépin, Aksel Thanke.

This movie is beautifully filmed as we follow Anders through his first day of freedom from the treatment center. He spends the day contemplating life in general and his own life in particular. The cinematography is stunning and the acting is well-done. We are really able to connect into Anders’ thoughts and experiences, both during his moments of silent contemplation and as he confronts his demons and comes to terms with his choices.  This film is worth a watch.
