Last Ounce of Courage (2012) Rated PG

The son of a fallen soldier tries to reconnect with his grandfather who is still grieving for his child. Starring Marshall R. Teague, Jennifer O’Neill, Rusty Joiner.

This film suffers from a lack of focus on the main story, however it still managed to draw me in. I was intrigued by the story of a son who wants to know more about his father but has to reconnect with his grandfather to do so.  The grandfather is still struggling with the loss of his son, making the relationship tenuous. I love the emphasis on patriotism, even if it was a little overdone.  If only the film had stayed focused on the relationship between the grandfather and his grandson and the story of their son/father, it would have been excellent. Instead, there are too many side stories that detract from the main purpose of the film.  Even with its faults, though, this movie is still worth a watch.
