A lighthouse keeper in 1912 on Cape Cod, who vows not to have anything to do with women, finds two of them staying in the cottage next door for the summer. Starring Blythe Danner, Richard Dreyfuss, Bruce Dern, Mamie Gummer, Julie Harris, Tom Wisdom.
This is one a fun romance where two people who are at odds overcome their frustrations with each other to find love. There are some plot holes, though. For one, there is no resolution or conclusion to the story about the girl that John Brown had the falling out with. Second, there is a lack of continuity surrounding the last day in the film. It is implied that the women have left, but then they are still there, and other problems arise, too. Although not an original story, it is still a satisfying film and worth a watch.
