The Vanishing (2018) Rated R

Three lighthouse keepers find gold that causes them to disappear. Starring Gerard Butler, Peter Mullan, and Connor Swindells.

This is an interesting film. It looks at the greed of men and how that greed takes you down a dark hole. The film doesn’t have the best script. What it does have is excellent directing from Kristoffer Nyholm – the camera angles and directing of the cast are amazing. Gerard Butler’s performance is spot on. The cinematography is wonderful and has great visuals. The only problem is the script; there are many plot holes, unnecessary scenes and dialogue, and bad pacing. If the film were more smoothed out, it would be a thriller worth watching, alas it is not worth a watch.
