A slave turned gladiator must save his love, who is betrothed to a Roman Senator, as Mount Vesuvius erupts. Starring Kit Harington, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Emily Browning.
This is one of those films with a “great” love story surrounded by a natural disaster. The story itself isn’t the best – the romance is farfetched. The best story is between the two gladiators. Then you have the special effects of Mt. Vesuvius erupting – they’re good, but it is obvious that they are special effects. The last twenty minutes of the film has you sitting on the edge of your sit in a race against time to survive the eruption. This film isn’t bad, but it really isn’t good, making it not worth a watch.
