Mr. St. Nick (2002) Rated NR

King Nicholas XX is preparing to retire and pass on his legacy to his son, Nick St Nicholas. Only his son is a no-show and prefers his lifestyle and girlfriend. Will Christmas be saved? Starring Kelsey Grammer, Elaine Hendrix, and Brian Bedford.

This film is rather disappointing. It could have been a fun holiday flick, but I think the casting just didn’t mesh with the script. Each century, the next generation’s Santa takes over the family business; except the new Santa struggles with accepting and wanting the job. The script calls for funny scenes, but they just come off as cringe-worthy. Charles Durning, who plays the older St. Nick, plays the jolly guy perfectly, but I just couldn’t get over Grammer as St. Nick the younger. This film is not worth a watch.
