Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas (2014) Rated TV-G

A musical animation of the movie Elf, a human who was raised in the North Pole by Elves. Starring Jim Parsons, Mark Hamill, and Rachael MacFarlane.

This is an ok animated remake of the Elf (2003) movie. The Christmas songs are typical for a Christmas short. They are enjoyable for what they are intended for, but you won’t be singing throughout the season. The film is cut in half with some of the jokes from the original movie, but it’s mostly just the same jokes beaten to death throughout the film. The film isn’t written well. It doesn’t have anything that redeems the holiday spirit, and it seems to go against Christmas altogether. The performances are the only good things that seem to come from the movie. It’s an animation that is more for adults than for children, making this film not worth a watch.
