Richard Jewell (2019) Rated R

American security guard, Richard Jewell, goes from hero to suspect in the 1996 Centennial Park bombing. Starring Paul Walter Hauser, Sam Rockwell, and Brandon Stanley.

This film showcases how the 1996 Centennial Park bombing transformed Jewell’s life. Jewell was always interested in law enforcement and always wanted to be a cop. The security guard job was a step in that direction. He was always an odd guy, according to everyone that knew him. But, he was diligent in his work, a little too diligent. Then you add the combustion of the media wanting to get to the truth before it’s actually out there, and what do you have? A man wanting to do everything possible to help people and media that doesn’t care about the truth. The FBI just wants to find the person responsible because the world is watching, and the oddest guy in the room fits that description. This film highlights what the media latches onto for a good story, and it’s worth a watch.
