Little Birds (Starz) Rated TV-MA

The TV adaptation of Anais Nin’s infamous collection of erotic short stories. Starring Juno Temple, Yumna Marwan, and Hugh Skinner.

I watched the trailer for this show before actually watching it and I was thinking to myself, I’m not sure this is going to be a good watch – maybe I should just bypass it and not watch this show. Well, I watched the first episode and it was colorful. The cinematography is beautiful as we see the beauty of Tanzania unfold; what it misses is everything else. The plot doesn’t have a focus so we have no idea where we are going with the story. There are a lot of unnecessary subplots. It’s almost like they wanted to tell Nin’s stories but they had no way to tell them when they wanted to focus on the erotic element of the stories. In fact, the kinkiness of the story doesn’t make much sense and is put there as if it’s going to push the story along. It doesn’t. This series is not worth a watch.
