The Polar Express (2004) Rated G

A boy goes on a journey to the North Pole while learning friendship, bravery, and the spirit of Christmas. Based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg. Starring Tom Hanks, Leslie Zemeckis, and Eddie Deezen.

The one thing going for this film is the animation; it’s beautifully done. Of course, the book is just as beautifully illustrated. While the book was beautifully presented, I was disappointed in the story. I never really got into the story of believing in the spirit of Christmas. Sorry, spoiler alert. The film does something that most films don’t…it brings the story to life. The filmmakers didn’t mess with the story at all. It follows the book word for word. Also a big plus. At times, I felt the film drag, but that doesn’t distract from the animation. This will go down as a classic holiday film. It’s worth the watch.
