Max Payne (2008) Rated PG-13

A police detective and an assassin come together to solve a series of murders in New York City while being hunted by the police, the mob, and a corporation. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and Beau Bridges.

This film brings the video game to life in its tone, atmosphere, and cinematography, which includes a dark grittiness. The shooting scenes are rapid but difficult to follow in the dark cinematography. The film leans more on the characters than on the action scenes, but they are still hard to follow in the dark. I don’t get why films have to have such dark lighting that makes it hard to understand the movie. This film has the quintessential dark cinematography that just doesn’t bode well. This film is not worth the watch.
