A 19-year-old returns home from a tour of duty and struggles with the realities of the peaceful life at home against the war he left behind. Starring Joe Alwyn, Garrett Hedlund, and Arturo Castro.
Is this supposed to be a satirical look at our military? Because this is in no way a true look at it. I’m under no illusion when it comes to moments that are considered war crimes. While both sides commit these atrocities, I don’t believe they are the norm. This film seems to suggest that these are the norm and that war, overall, is bad. This film seems to have been made by people who have never been in the military or had loved ones serve. Granted, every story is different – no one sees it the same way, but this film left a bad taste in my mouth. I will say the contrast between the homefront and the war front is showcased brilliantly in this film. Ultimately, it just feels like the film lacks military knowledge, making it not worth the watch.
