During WWII, a widow falls for a lieutenant colonel. Starring William Holden, Deborah Kerr, and Thelma Ritter.
At first I thought this would be a great love story. While it has it’s moments, there are also moments when the pacing is too slow for the story. The story has the typical romance outline: they meet, don’t like, fall in love, issues arise, and then the issues get fixed and they live happily ever after. The problem is that the characters are unlikable most of the time. There are moments when you can sympathize with them, but at other times, you just want the other character to walk away. The film, overall, seems to be a mismatch of dialogue, cinematography, and acting. It’s not worth the watch.
