#Xmas (2022) Rated TV-G

When a designer participates in a contest for branding her company, she poses as a woman who is married with a child in order to enter. Starring Clare Bowen, Brant Daugherty, and Anna Van Hooft.

This Hallmark film leaves me pulled in two different  ways. In one way, I love the film, but in the other, I realize it’s not the best Hallmark production. I love Clare Bowen. Ever since Nashville, I have just really loved her character, but since Nashville, Bowen has struggled with dropping the character, Scarlett. The character that Bowen portrays in this film is so like me in so many ways that it’s hard to watch. The film, overall, is not the typical Hallmark movie, and yet it still has the recipe that is Hallmark. Then comes the parts that I dislike. Jen, Bowen’s character, is not likeable. She is, at times, unknowingly mean. Although, her sister makes up for it. I would love to have a sister like hers – one that understands her faults and tries to help her overcome them. There are times when Bowen overacts and the script isn’t the best in making the character’s mistakes forgivable.   The ending is just too harsh for a Hallmark film, and the couple just gets together without much of a reason. This film is not worth the watch.
