Road to Bali (1952) Rated NR

Road to BaliTwo song-and-dance men must leave Australia to avoid marriage proposals. Instead, they take jobs as divers for Princess Lala. Starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour

This is the sixth “Road to . . .” film starring Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, and it’s one of the funnier ones I’ve seen. After the two men and Dorothy Lamour (who plays the princess) are washed ashore, the comedy takes off. Crosby and Hope are known for their improvisation, and I think they were on the ball in this film. They joked about other films and actors- even the film they are in. As with all “Road to . . .” films, there doesn’t seem to be any sense to their adventures; there’s really no reason for them to be traveling to their variety of destinations. No matter, though; just having these two comic geniuses on screen together is pure gold.  This movie is worth a watch.
