Carrie (1976) Rated R

Carrie is a friendless teen whose been sheltered by her mother until her telekine

tic powers are unleashed  at the senior prom. Based on the book by Stephen King. Starring Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie, Amy Irving, John Travolta

This film is quintessential Stephen King with supernatural powers lying dormant throughout most of the story until they are unleashed. King is a master storyteller, and and Brian De Palma (the director) brings his words to terrifying life with the help of Spacek and Laurie. They play the socially awkward daughter and overbearing mother. The film also shines light on the common cruelty of high school students and the chilling way one unlikely student gets her revenge. This disturbing movie will stay with you for a long time after, but it is worth a watch.
