A spy falls in love while working on an undercover mission in Syria. Based on the book by Howard Kaplan. Starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Olivia Thirlby, and John Hurt.
As a spy thriller, this film is poorly written. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is usually a good actor, but this part was a stretch for him. The conflict of the love affair was too confusing and didn’t come across in the performance. The film can’t decide if it’s a romance or a spy thriller, and even the plot twists can’t save the script. Sure, there are worse films, but this one could’ve been better. It’s not worth a watch.
