The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) Rated PG-13

Bilbo and company rage in a war against the combatants to save the Lonely Mountain from falling into the darkness. Based on the book by J.R.R. Tolkien. Starring Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, and Richard Armitage.

In this film, Peter Jackson continues to produce the brilliant visual effects and scenery of the prequel to The Lord of the Rings. I also think that The Hobbit is smaller than The Lord of the Rings series. The film is mostly the fighting during the war with little downtime for actual storytelling. I felt that the storytelling wasn’t always needed, but neither was the action. It’s a story that needs to be told, but  I’m just not sure it needed to be stretched out. It still has great acting, and it still has Tolkien’s story. That’s what makes it worth a watch.
