Street Smart (1987) Rated R

A New York journalist lies about a fake pimp but is actually describing a real pimp that’s up for murder. Starring Christopher Reeve, Kathy Baker, and Mimi Rogers.

This film is a brilliant story of life on the streets. It represents that life well, the scariness of it and the quick change of emotions. The downfall of this film is the script – it doesn’t hold up to the great performances by the actors. The script just has too many plot holes. At times, the writing seems smart and interesting – then, the characters do something stupid or out of character. The film is interesting and holds your attention, but the poor writing and bad ending that doesn’t make sense, this film is not worth a watch.
