Sicario (2015) Rated R

An FBI agent is called into a government task force that is fighting the war on drugs at the Mexican-United States border. Starring Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, and Josh Brolin.

This film takes us into the world of drug smuggling. We go deep into both sides of the war on drugs. Denis Villeneuve gives us a very tactical look at how they all work together and against each other, but as the story unfolds without much of a story, it gives us a sense of foreboding. The characters are all interesting but lack depth, which give us a sense of uneasiness. The film has brilliant cinematography and it does what it sets out to do, giving us a peek into the lives around drug smuggling. It’s mostly entertaining, even when it’s at it’s worst. This film is worth a watch.
