A boy has visions of a dark tower under attack by a man in black. He joins forces with the tower’s guardian to stop the destruction. Based on the series by Stephen King. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Idris Elba, and Tom Taylor.
First off, I’ve never read the books and it will probably show in my review. The film is an interesting but bland story of a boy with visions of an alternated reality, where children are used to destroy the tower. What the tower is I don’t really know, something about joining all the realities together, but whatever. Then you have gunslinger who’s trying to protect the tower, but I’m not sure how he does that. And then there is the evil man in black – which again, I have no idea why exactly he wants to destroy the tower. Maybe, he’s just a control freak – I don’t know. The film doesn’t have much to recommend of King. It’s not a quintesential King film, if you know what I mean. For what it was, an interesting story with great effects, the film is worth the watch. If you are looking for a great King story, then I would pass, but otherwise, I would say the film is worth a watch.
