Beauty and the Beast (2017) Rated PG

The live-action Disney story of a selfish prince whose curse can only be broken by true love. Starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, and Luke Evans.

I was rather disappointed with this new live-action reimagined version. While the film holds close to the original Disney story, it lacked on so many levels. The CGI is awful most of the time. However, the scenes were beautiful, and the cinematography is wonderful. The acting, surprisingly, was off. The chemistry between the actors wasn’t there. It’s like no one was comfortable in their role. It doesn’t help that they tied to make it more politically correct by making Lefou gay. I just don’t get why. Josh Gad brings the humor, but really. Overall, it doesn’t hold a candle to the beautiful, over-the-top animated version. The film is not worth the watch.
