Dodsworth (1936) Rated NR

A retiree and his wife go on a much-needed European vacation and find they both want other things in life. Starring Walter Huston, Ruth Chatterton, and Paul Lukas.

This is one of those films that just tells an enjoyable story. That’s what it is – a lovely story about a couple who was never suited to each other and now, when they don’t have the things that hold them together, they fall apart. The actors make this film an enjoyable watch. They know their roles and portray them wonderfully. Huston plays the husband that takes a while to catch on to how unsuitable his wife is, and he is wonderful. Chatterton isn’t that bad as the woman who prefers to have fun in life. It’s a wonderful film. Both actors make the film worth the watch with their comedic timing.
