What Lies Beneath (2000) Rated PG-13

A woman believes her lakeside home is haunted or she is losing her mind. Starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Katharine Towne, and Miranda Otto.

This film brings back the old-style horror films. Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford star as the couple on the rocks. Pfeiffer’s performance is brilliant as the woman who is haunted by a spirit that has something to say.  It only gets worse when she begins to suspect there are ghosts haunting her house. As the film is mostly silent, we see the horror in Pfeiffer’s eyes. As the spooky and creepy supernatural events go on, you tend to believe that she is, indeed, going crazy. There are times when the script tends to drift off course, but the ending brings it all back into focus. While it’s not the best film and it has nothing new in the way of horror, it still holds you in suspense with a few jumps, making it worth the watch.
