Claws (TNT) Rated TV-MA

The life and crimes of five women who work at a nail salon. Starring Niecy Nash, Carrie Preston, and Judy Reyes.

While the story is interesting, the show revolves round sex and death. Granted, the salon is mixed up in the mob, making death inevitable. The show’s storyline places a nail salon as the backdrop to everything else going on. Some of the acting is worth watching; Harold Perrineau really showcases his ability. While the story is interesting, it doesn’t help that the script is all over the place with unrealistic plot elements not to mention the plot holes. It’s hard to follow. This show is not worth the watch.

Bull Durham (1988) Rated R

A fan has an affair every season with a minor league baseball player. Starring Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon, and Tim Robbins.

This film revolves around great characters and a great story. It’s a love triangle romance story. While the film’s main story is a rookie trying to improve his game, the focus is the romance between the characters. It tells a great story with great actors, but I’m not that impressed with it. For one, I’m not fond of any of the characters. I don’t like Sarandon’s character at all or her chemistry with Robbins. The same goes for Robbins, I just don’t like how those two get together and then how they use sex as a game. Costner is the only one I like, and I just can’t see his character falling for Sarandon. Then you have the romance of the film. I really don’t see any of these characters really having a happily ever after, and for a romance, that is what I need. Granted, this is all my perspective. Overall, the film is well written, and the characters all are strong. Thus, I can see why everyone likes the film. For me, it’s not really worth it, but overall, I’ll say it’s worth the watch.

20/20: Outbreak: What You Need to Know (2020) Rated NR

Follows the chain events of the COVID19 pandemic as it unfolds with questions and answers about the pandemic. Starring Michael Embrich, Rebecca Jarvis, and David Muir.

I have mixed feelings about watching this. It’s now 2024, four years after the Pandemic. I had mixed feelings the year of the Pandemic. There was so much I thought was not realistic in regard to the virus. The numbers don’t match, and the mask doesn’t make sense in the logic of a virus. Granted, it’s a man-made virus, but still none of it made sense. I worried about watching something that gives false security. Although, in watching this I can see that they wanted people to be safe and understand the virus. They tried to answer questions with the information they had. This was at the beginning when they weren’t being as pushy and extreme. Thus, I have to say it is worth the watch.
