Based on the true crime of the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria, whose husband was convicted of her murder while a scheme by her best friend, Pam Hupp, was also involved. Starring Renée Zellweger, Gideon Adlon, and Patricia French.
Well, I must say, this is an interesting series. Zellweger is back and on the small screen, and in a fat suit to boot. This series is a mixture of Dateline meets true crime reenactments, with a dash of made-for-TV movie of the week. It’s an odd mixture. I can’t make up my mind whether I enjoyed it or thought it was too cheesy. I do find that the showrunners didn’t give the victim, Betsy Faria, more depth of character. I couldn’t make out if she was dumb or just really believed in Pam. The show, I believe, may have tried to poke fun at the genre it came from, but it really didn’t do it justice. While everything didn’t really mesh together, it is entertaining from the standpoint that this is a true story. We know the end of the story, but how did we get there? That’s intriguing. It’s on the border of being worth the watch, but I’m saying it’s not worth it.
