Snowden (2016) Rated R

An NSA employee releases thousands of classified documents to the press that show their illegal surveillance techniques.  Starring Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, wJoseph Gordon-Levitt.

This film is brilliant in the fact that it gives the story of Edward Snowden – who he is and why he did what he did. I believe there is more to the story, even though the film presents Snowden as a likeable guy and holds him to the line of good vs. evil. I understand how the NSA did (and still does) cross the line of illegal surveillance. That said, I also understand that it’s a government job, and you can’t release information that would put people in harm’s way, which Snowden did. He released information that most Americans don’t want to think happens but we know it does. That’s a hard line for Snowden to cross, and I don’t trust Snowden as well as the NSA. This film is worth the watch.
