Sweet Mountain Christmas (2019) Rated TV-G

A country music star returns home and reconnects with an old boyfriend. Starring Megan Hilty, Marcus Rosner, and Teryl Rothery.

This is a typical Christmas romance movie. I thought it was cute. Megan Hilty was perfect for the country music star, and I enjoyed seeing her in the morning with less makeup on. I say that because it’s not shown often that you aren’t all dolled up when you just wake up. It’s the little details that make me giddy in films. Rosner, who plays the former boyfriend, knows his job: Look handsome but show loving emotions. I’ve always enjoyed Rosner in these TV movies. The two of them worked well together, but I felt that they didn’t have the chemistry needed for me to root for them.  I also thought casting with Rothery as Hilty’s mom was brilliant. They look and act like they could be related. However, I struggled with how unrealistic the story is. The weather, as usual in these films, seems to be a problem, but to me, I doubt it would be that big of a problem. While I don’t think Hilty’s character changed much, I do think those around her would’ve acted differently. Thus, the film is not worth the watch.
